Bank of America Awards $25,000 Grant

To Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches

 

Funds will be Used to Help Provide

Nutritious Meals to Homebound Seniors

 

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (August 24, 2023) - Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches is pleased to announce that it recently received a $25,000 grant from Bank of America, a longtime supporter of the organization. With the new grant funds, Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches will be able to provide more than 4,000 meals delivered to homebound seniors throughout Palm Beach County by caring volunteers.

“The Bank of America team here in Palm Beach County has been critical to our success as we continue to address issues of senior hunger in our community,”said Pamela Calzadilla, president and CEO, Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches. “We are grateful that Bank of America chose, once again, to support us with this grant.”

Helping to lower barriers blocking those in need from receiving nutritious meals in Palm Beach County is one of Bank of America’s top local priorities and one of the reasons Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches was selected to receive the grant.

“Partnering with Meals on Wheels to address food insecurity is part of our approach to fostering economic mobility and equitable progress,” said Fabiola Brumley, president, Bank of America Palm Beach County. “These investments demonstrate how we are taking action to provide our Palm Beach County community the essential resources and support needed to help people succeed in today’s and tomorrow’s economy.”

As part of its support for Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches, Bank of America has been the lead partner in the organization’s annual “Pie It Forward” fundraising campaign, which sells Thanksgiving pies each November from more than 30 local “Pie Masters”- chefs from the area’s most notable restaurants and country clubs-to local businesses and residents.

“Thanks in part to Bank of America’s support of “Pie It Forward” every year since it started in 2015, “Pie It Forward” has raised nearly $1 million that is used to provide meals to homebound seniors,” said Maura Sartory. special events director,Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches. “We are so appreciative for their continued support year after year.”

With the help ofcommunity leaders such as Bank of America, Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches willdeliver close to 100,000 meals to homebound seniors this year.

In addition to helping ensure clients receive the nutrition they need, the organization also offers companionship, the opportunity for seniors toremain independent in their own homes, and peace of mind for loved ones.

“Because we receive no government funding, we rely heavily on community support from organizations such as Bank of America,” Calzadilla said. “The generosity of the team at Bank of America locally is exceptional.”
